Clos du Sixte Vineyard
The wine is made from grapes grown on similar soils to Chateauneuf du Papes, but because Lirac remains unfashionable the wines are much better value. 2005 was a fantastic vintage in the Southern Rhone with low yields and ripe fruit. The wines are deep, dark and intense with everything from cocoa and roasted coffee to kirsch and spice complimented by a hint of floral notes. This is a serious wine and a real bargain.
