Some thoughts on a Pichon-Baron Tasting with Christian Seely

By Juel Mahoney

A thought of Barons

What’s the collective noun for a group of barons?

That was my first question entering a room filled with Château Pichon Longueville Baron. There’s no other way to describe it – the whole room smelled… expensive.

Take the classic characters of Pauillac and multiply it by ten: cigar box, blackcurrant and cedar.  It is an old Bentley of a wine …

Bisol Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Jeio Brut NV (Veneto, Italy)

Bisol Jeio Brut NV

Number one pick on a day like today has got to be the awesome Bisol Jeio Prosecco, a favourite from the Wondering Wine Company list and one of their top selling wines from this summer’s run of events. Its affordable, elegant bubbles proving a real winner this summer.

Will Lowe’s Blogtails: Dairy Cocktails

By Will Lowe, http://www.willlowe.com/

Brandy Alexander Cocktail.

When I was asked to write an article on dairy based cocktails, my head was immediately filled with the sound of Calvin Harris singing “it was acceptable in the 80’s”. Fortunately, it’s a short song, so it wasn’t long before I was able to focus on the task at hand.

Fashions in what …

Harvest 2011 - Part Deux

I apologise for the delay in this last post of the 2011 harvest, but I do have a good excuse…. I was not here! The last day of picking was conducted without me as I flew off for an important Trans-Atlantic appointment – more of that tomorrow.

In the meantime my …

The Bibendum vans have arrived!

By Rob Pickard

Bibendum Van at Primrose Hill

This week saw the launch of Bibendum’s very own delivery vans, with the trucks sporting our colours and loads of photos from our travels around the world and recent events.

Aglianico del Vulture Terra di Vulcano Bisceglia 2008 (Basilicata, Italy)

Aglianico del Vulture Bisceglia Bottle Shot

On Tuesday, I was speed tasting some of the reds at our W1 tasting to check for TCA or other problems before we opened the doors. I wasn’t taking my time to think about balance, fruit or quality. I wasn’t writing notes and mentally composing potential food matches. It was open, pour, sniff, slurp, spit and …

Pressing Tempranillo and Crushing Graciano at Vinos Ambiz

By Fabio Bartolomei, http://vinosambiz.blogspot.com/

Graciano

Last Wednesday evening/night (14th September) we:

1) Pressed the Tempranillo that we had harvested two weeks ago, and

2) Crushed about 500 kg of Graciano that we bought in from our friend and fellow natural winemaker, Samuel Cano, from la Mota del Cuervo, a small town right in the middle of La Mancha.

We did both tasks a bit in parallel and a bit …
