The Charming Lenz Moser & his Gruner Veltliners

By Tina Gellie, Decanter Magazine

Lenz Moser

Laurenz V winemaker Lenz Moser

Austria’s Lenz Moser loves Grüner Veltliner – so much so, he doesn’t see much point in making anything else. There’s a winery under his name in Austria, which is his old family company, producing everything from Sauvignon and Chardonnay to Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch, but Lenz himself now makes only Grüner under …

Keep it simple: A lesson is labelling

A short footnote to yesterday’s post about dry German Rieslings and the difficulty of selling them in the UK. One factor that undoubtedly puts people off is the labels of many German wines, which are incredibly complicated to those not initiaited into the complex worlds of Einzellagen and Grosslagen. Which is 99.9% of people who buy wine in the UK.

All of which makes the label below even more remarkable. It is a lesson …

Ceppaiano Violetta

The Ceppaiano Estate is located in coastal Tusacany, an exciting area which is giving new impulse to the reputation of these great wines. The vineyard is located on the edges of the Arno River about 25km from the Tyrrhenian Sea, on sandy soils rich in minerals and fossils of marine origin.

Making Wine in the heart of Manhattan

By Jane Anson, http://newbordeaux.blog.co.uk/

Made in Manhattan

Made in Manhattan

I’ve been visiting sunny New York in the last few days. Had three fascinating meetings and I will write up some market advice for winemakers looking to get distributed in New York later in the week. But I thought I would put a write up about a less business-focused meeting, with City Winery in SoHo, where …
